Ingredients
The active substance is pyrantel.
5 ml of oral suspension contains 250 mg of pyrantel (in the form of pyrantel pamoate).
Other ingredients: sodium benzoate (E 211), carmellose sodium, sorbitol 70% (E 420), glycerin, magnesium aluminum silicate, polysorbate 80, povidone, apricot flavor, simethicone emulsion, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
Shake the contents of the bottle before use.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as directed in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The drug is administered orally regardless of food. Before using Pyrantelum Medana suspension, shake the contents of the bottle until a homogeneous liquid is formed. The dose of the medicine should be measured using the measuring cup included in the package. The recommended dose of Pyrantelum Medana for adults and children from 2 years of age with a body weight of 11 kg or more is: 11 mg / kg of body weight once. This dose should be repeated two or three weeks after the first dose. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the drug.
Action
Pyrantelum Medana has an antiparasitic effect and acts on the muscles of intestinal parasites. The drug immobilizes parasites and removes them from the intestines thanks to peristaltic movements. Pyrantelum Medana does not irritate the intestines and does not cause the movement of worms. In the early stages, it attacks the mature forms and parasites, but not the larvae during their migration in the tissue.
Indication
The indication for the use of Pyrantelum Medana is enterobiasis, if they are found in the stool and / or around the anus.
Symptoms of pinworms are observed mainly in children. However, the disease occurs at any age, although very often children are the main carriers (parasites can be infected, for example, in nurseries, kindergartens, sandpits) and other people who live together can easily become infected. Worms manifest as severe itching in the rectal area (not in all infected people), usually at night, which often leads to inflammation. Children infected with worms may experience irritability, nervousness, insomnia, bedwetting or abdominal pain and loss of appetite. Girls sometimes experience vulvovaginitis, which is manifested by itching, burning sensation and white discharge. In such cases, please contact your doctor.
Contraindication
Pyrantelum Medana must not be used by people who are allergic to pyrantel or any other component of this preparation. Contraindication to the use of Pyrantelum Medana is the treatment of Cityi (skeletal muscle disease).
Side effects
Like all medicines, this product can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Pyrantelum Medana may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, appetite disturbances, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, increased liver enzymes, allergic rashes, headache and dizziness, drowsiness or insomnia.
Warnings and precautions
Before using the drug, consult a doctor about: liver dysfunction, malnutrition, anemia.
In order to prevent self-infection and transmission to other people, the following recommendations must be followed for at least 6 weeks after the end of treatment: increased personal hygiene of the whole family, thorough washing of vegetables and fruits before consumption, short children’s nails, do not bite nails, lick fingers, often and change underwear and bedclothes regularly, wash underwear and bedclothes at high temperatures, avoid playing in a dirty sandpit, etc.
Pyrantelum Medana contains sorbitol. 5 ml of oral suspension contains 3.06 g of sorbitol 70%. If you have been diagnosed with an intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before taking the medicine. Sorbitol may have a mild laxative effect.
