The name rosemary translates from Latin as “dew of the sea”. In ancient times, rosemary was considered one of the most valued medicinal plants. The plant grows wild in the Mediterranean, especially in coastal regions (Portugal to Asia Minor, also on the Black Sea). In our latitudes, it grows easily in the garden and on the balcony. Incidentally, rosemary oil combined with alcohol was the main ingredient in one of the first distilled perfumes, “Hungarian Water”, which was named after Queen Elisabeth of Hungary.
