Contrahist Allergy is an antiallergic drug for use in adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age in the course of:
- allergic rhinitis, including chronic rhinitis,
- chronic idiopathic urticaria.
The active substance of the drug is levocetirizine in the form of dihydrochloride, which is antiallergic: it inhibits skin reactions, including rash, urticaria, and reduces the permeability of the mucous membranes, including the nasal mucosa. The drug penetrates to the central nervous system to a small extent and usually does not have a sedative effect and does not cause drowsiness, therefore it is classified as a second-generation antihistamine. It is used to treat both chronic and seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Levocetirizine improves the quality of life of people suffering from perennial allergic rhinitis.
Dosage
Adults and children from 6 years of age: 1 tablet (5 mg) daily.
Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water.
The drug can be taken with or without food.
Do not take a double dose of the drug to make up for the forgotten dose. If there is no improvement or the patient feels worse after 3 days of starting the drug, a doctor should be consulted. The drug should not be used for more than 10 days without consulting a doctor. In patients with hepatic impairment, dose reduction is usually not necessary. Patients with impaired renal function should consult a physician on the possible need to reduce the dose of the drug. Contrahist Allergy tablets are not recommended for children under 6 years of age.

1 film-coated tablet contains:
active substance: levocetirizine hydrochloride 5 mg, equivalent to levocetirizine 4.2 mg,
excipients: microcrystalline cellulose (type 102), lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 400.
