Calcium-Sandoz Forte 500mg is a source of calcium, which is a basic mineral component, plays an important role in the proper functioning of nerves, muscles and the heart. Calcium is the basic building material of teeth and bones. Calcium-Sandoz Forte in the form of effervescent tablets after dissolving in water is used as an oral fluid.
Indications
- It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency and can be used in conjunction with other preparations to prevent and treat a condition called osteoporosis (weakening of the bones),
- It can also be used together with vitamin D3 to treat rickets (softening of growing bones in children) and osteomalacia (softening of bones in adults).
Composition
1 tablet contains:
- active substances: 1132 mg of calcium lactogluconate and 875 mg of calcium carbonate,
- excipients: anhydrous citric acid, orange flavour [contains: benzyl alcohol, glucose, sorbitol (E 420) and sulphur dioxide (E 220)], aspartame (E 951), macrogol 6000 and sodium hydrogen carbonate.
Dosage
- Adults: one effervescent tablet (one dose) once, twice or three times daily (equivalent to 500-1500 mg calcium),
- Children: one effervescent tablet (one dose) once or twice daily (equivalent to 500-1000 mg calcium),
- The effervescent tablet should be dissolved in a glass of water (approximately 200 ml) and drunk immediately after dissolving,
- The tablet should not be swallowed or chewed,
- The medicine can be taken with or between meals.
Contraindications
- Allergy (hypersensitivity) to calcium or any of the other ingredients of the drug.
- Increased amount of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia).
- Increased amount of calcium in the urine (hypercalciuria).
- Kidney disease, including: kidney stones (nephrolithiasis) and calcium build-up in the kidney tissue (nephrocalcinosis).
