Active ingredients
50,000 IU sodium heparin, 2,500 mg dexpanthenol, 15,000 mg dimethyl sulfoxide.
Excipients
Trometamol, Carbopol 980, Isopropyl alcohol, Mountain pine oil, Rosemary oil, Cremophor RH, citronella oil, Water.
Scope
Dolobene-ratiopharm gel has anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, analgesic and anti-edematous effects at the site of application.
Dolobene-ratiopharm gel is suitable for supportive treatment of: swelling, bruising and inflammation after blunt injuries to muscles, tendons, tendon sheaths, ligaments and joints, such as bruises and contusions, sprains and dislocations; Tennis elbow, tendonitis, inflammation of the tendon sheath, bursitis.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Unless otherwise prescribed, strictly follow the dosage:
Dolobene-ratiopharm – the gel should be applied to the affected areas 2-4 times a day. Usually, about 3 cm of gel thread is required for an area the size of a knee.
Dolobene-ratiopharm gel should not be used in children under 5 years of age.
Apply a thin layer of Dolobene-ratiopharm gel to the area of the body to be treated and spread evenly.
There should be no medicines, cosmetics or chemicals at the application site. Dolobene-ratiopharm – the gel should not be applied to mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, nose), open wounds or to diseased or previously damaged skin (e.g. after radiation, severe sunburn, surgical scars).
When used under dressings: after applying the gel, apply the dressing only after a few minutes, when the gel has been largely absorbed into the skin and the alcohol has evaporated.
The duration of use depends on the severity and progression of the symptoms.
Contraindications
Dolobene-ratiopharm gel should not be used if you are allergic to dimethyl sulfoxide, sodium heparin, dexpanthenol or any other ingredient of this medicine, if you suffer from asthma, if your liver function is seriously impaired, if your kidney function is seriously impaired, in case of circulatory instability, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side effects
The following side effects may occur during treatment with Dolobene-ratiopharm gel:
immune system disorders
Sometimes: DMSO or other ingredients of Dolobene-ratiopharm gel may cause allergic skin reactions.
Very rare: In isolated cases, immediate allergic reactions with hives and sudden swelling may occur, especially in the face, and if the larynx and tongue are affected, shortness of breath and difficulty swallowing (so-called Quincke’s edema) may occur.
Heart disease
Very rare: In isolated cases, heart problems have occurred when applied to large surfaces.
Respiratory, thoracic and chest disorders
Very rare: In isolated cases, breathing difficulties have occurred when applied to large surfaces.
Gastrointestinal disorders
Uncommon: After using Dolobene-ratiopharm gel, an unpleasant odor from the mouth, reminiscent of the smell of garlic, may temporarily occur. This odor is caused by dimethyl sulfide (DMS), a metabolite of DMSO. The change in taste perception disappears after a few minutes.
Very rare: In isolated cases, stomach discomfort, nausea and diarrhea have been reported when applied to large surfaces.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders
When using DMSO, increased sensitivity to light may occur.
General disorders and reactions at the injection site:
Common: The most common side effects are skin redness, itching, burning, blistering, and urticaria at the site of application. These symptoms usually disappear with further treatment.
