Vitawund is a wound-healing ointment. Chlorhexidine prevents the growth of microbes that can lead to infection of wounds. The ointment base promotes wound healing.
Vitawund is used to accelerate the healing of all types of superficial wounds with a risk of infection: abrasions and scratches, skin irritations, minor burns of a small area.
Vitawund ointment should not be used if you are allergic to chlorhexidine or any other ingredient of this drug. If the eardrum is damaged, Vitawund ointment should not be instilled into the ear.
The ointment should not be used on deep wounds, leg ulcers (ulcus cruris), severe or extensive burns, or under impermeable dressings (occlusive dressings).
Avoid contact with the eyes and in the immediate vicinity of the eyes, on mucous membranes or in the ear canal.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The ointment should be applied to the affected area of skin 1-3 times a day.
Use in children
In newborns and infants, only small areas should be treated.
Side effects
In rare cases (in 1-10 users out of 10,000), skin irritation such as mild burning or itching may occur after application.
In very rare cases (occurring in less than 1 in 10,000 treated people), allergic hypersensitivity reactions (often accompanied by a drop in blood pressure, dizziness, nausea and possibly shortness of breath), angioedema (allergic painful swelling of the skin and mucous membranes, especially in the face) and urticaria may occur.
Active substance: chlorhexidine digluconate. 1 g of ointment contains 5.25 mg of chlorhexidine bigluconate.
Other ingredients: fish oil A, white petrolatum, glycerol monoisostearate, polyglyceryl oleate, bleached wax, glycerin, hydrogenated castor oil, trometamol, acetic acid, disodium edetate dihydrate, purified water.
