Sanosvit Calcium, in the form of a banana-flavored syrup, containing calcium gluconolactobionate and calcium lactobionate as active substances.
Composition
The active substances are calcium gluconolactobionate and calcium lactobionate.
The other substances of the drug are: sucrose, propionic acid, sodium benzoate, hydrochloric acid, banana flavor, and purified water.
5 ml of syrup contains:
Calcium gluconolactobionate 1442.5 mg
Calcium lactobionate 313.6 mg
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Administer orally.
- Children up to 6 years: teaspoon 2 to 3 times a day.
- Children from 6 to 12 years: 2 teaspoons 2 to 3 times a day.
- Adolescents and adults: a tablespoon 2 to 3 times a day.
5 ml of syrup (1 teaspoon) contains 114 mg of calcium ions.
The syrup should be administered undiluted.
After use, close the packaging tightly.
The drug can be used both in children and adults, however, due to the syrup form and pleasant taste, it is mainly used in children.
Action
Calcium is a basic mineral element necessary for maintaining the body’s water and electrolyte balance and the proper functioning of many regulatory mechanisms. It is an important component of bone tissue, it determines proper nerve conduction and muscle contractility. It is essential for blood clotting. By reducing the permeability of blood vessel walls, calcium has anti-exudative, anti-swelling and anti-inflammatory properties.
Organic calcium compounds contained in the drug are easily absorbed by the body. Administration of the drug replenishes calcium deficiency in the body and reduces swelling and allergic reactions.
Indications
Sanosvit Calcium is used in the prevention and supplementation of calcium deficiency in the body, e.g. during pregnancy or lactation, in the treatment of osteoporosis, and as an adjuvant in the treatment of allergy symptoms.
Contraindications
Do not use Sanosvit Calcium
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of the medicine,
- if you suffer from hypercalcaemia (increased levels of calcium in the blood serum), e.g. in patients with hyperparathyroidism, hypervitaminosis D, multiple myeloma and bone metastases,
- if you suffer from severe hypercalciuria (increased excretion of calcium in the urine).
- If you are taking high doses of vitamin D.
- If you suffer from galactosemia or diabetes.
- If you have been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking the drug.
- Due to the content of sucrose, Sanosvit Calcium should not be used in people with hereditary metabolic diseases such as: fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects.
Rarely, the following may occur:
- Gastrointestinal disorders (flatulence, constipation or diarrhea).
- In people with renal insufficiency, oral administration of high doses of calcium leads to hypercalcemia, the symptoms of which are: anorexia, gastrointestinal disorders, muscle weakness, polyuria, kidney damage.
Side effects may occur when calcium intake exceeds 2000-2500 mg / day, with long-term use or in people with renal insufficiency.
Some people may experience side effects other than those listed above while taking Sanosvit Calcium.
