“Composition
Each gram of gel contains 2 mg of carbomer. Excipients: cetrimide, preservative sorbitol, medium chain triglycerides, sodium hydroxide (for pH correction), purified water.
Dosage and method of administration
Treatment of dry eye syndrome requires an individual dosing regimen. Depending on the severity and intensity of symptoms, instill one drop into the conjunctival sac 3-5 times a day and approximately 30 minutes before bedtime (to avoid eyelids sticking together).
For the treatment of dry keratoconjunctivitis, as a rule, you should consult an ophthalmologist, since therapy is usually long-term or chronic. The desired drop size can be obtained by holding the tube vertically over the eye during instillation.
Children’s population
No data available. The use of Lipovisk ophthalmic gel in children aged 10 to 18 years for dry eye syndrome indications is not advisable.
Warnings
Contact lenses should be removed before using Lipovisk. They can be reinserted 30 minutes after instillation. Lipovisk may prolong the contact time of topical ophthalmic medications. Any ophthalmic medications used concomitantly with this product should be applied 15 minutes before instillation of Lipovisk (see section 4.5). If dry eye symptoms persist or worsen, discontinue treatment and consult an ophthalmologist.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Side effects
The following side effects have been reported as visual disturbances, with a very rare frequency (< 1/10,000):
burning eyes;
redness of the eyes;
eyelid eczema;
foreign body sensation in the eyes;
giant papillary conjunctivitis;
itching eyes;
sticky feeling in the eyes;
superficial punctate keratitis;
excessive lacrimation;
blurred vision.
These reactions may occur due to the preservative used (cetrimide) or as a result of intolerance to one of the other components. Blurred vision may occur after instillation of Lipovisk due to its high viscosity. In clinical studies of Lipovisk, only one non-serious case of local ocular adverse reaction (burning in the eyes) was observed.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
No studies have been conducted. Pregnancy There are no data on the use of carbomer in pregnant women. Animal studies do not indicate direct toxicity to reproductive function. However, as a precaution, it is better to avoid the use of Lipovisk during pregnancy. Breast-feeding It is not known whether carbomer or its metabolites are excreted in human milk. A risk to the newborn/infant cannot be excluded. A decision must be made whether to discontinue breast-feeding or to discontinue/abstain from therapy with Lipovisk, taking into account the benefit of breast-feeding for the child and the benefit of therapy for the woman. Fertility: No studies have been performed.”
