Active ingredient: Miconazole nitrate 2g.
Excipients: polyethyleneglycol palmitostearate, macrogol, glycerol oleate, liquid paraffin, butylhydroxyanzole, benzoic acid, purified water.
Directions
Daktarin Dermatologico 2% cream is useful in skin or nail infections caused by dermatophytes or Candida, possibly complicated by superinfections caused by gram-positive bacteria.
Method of administration and dosage
Skin infections: Treatment should be continued daily and continuously for at least a week after the disappearance of symptoms and can last from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the type and extent of infection. Wash the affected area and dry well. Treat not only the infected part, but also the area around it. Wash your hands thoroughly after each application to avoid transmitting germs to other parts of the body or to other people. Usually powder or spray for skin, powder and cream are used in combination. Powder for skin – Spray for skin, powder: indicated for the treatment of moist lesions. Apply enough powder to cover the affected area twice a day. If you also use cream in combination, it is sufficient to use both powder and cream once a day. For foot infections, it is recommended to sprinkle the powder on the feet daily during and after treatment with other topical preparations (creams), especially between the toes, as well as socks and shoes. Cream Apply 1 cm of cream (or more depending on the degree of the lesion) to the lesion twice a day, then spread with your fingers until completely absorbed. If you also use powder, it is recommended to use both formulations once a day. Nail infections: Trim the infected nails as short as possible. Continue the treatment continuously even after the infected nail falls off (usually after 2-3 weeks), until it has completely grown out and the lesions have completely healed (rarely before 3 months). It may also be necessary to combine treatment with other drugs. Skin solution: apply with a brush inserted into the cap of the bottle. Apply the solution 1-2 times a day to the infected nail, around it and, if possible, under it and let it dry. After drying, the solution forms an occlusive film on the nail. Before the next application, it is necessary to clean the nail with acetone. If this process is not done, the overlapping layers will become too thick and the solution will no longer be able to reach the nail. Cream. Apply a small amount of cream 1-2 times a day to the infected nail, then spread it with your fingers; cover the nail with a non-perforated occlusive dressing.
Warnings
If sensitization or irritation occurs, stop treatment and prescribe appropriate therapy. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly after each application, unless the same hands are being treated. Since the skin solution contains alcohol, avoid contact with open wounds and mucous membranes. In these cases, use a cream. Skin dust contains talc: avoid inhaling dust, which may irritate the respiratory tract. To avoid sources of infection or reinfection, it is advisable to take the following hygiene measures: keep towels and underwear for personal use to avoid infecting others; regularly change clothing that has been in contact with the contaminated area to avoid reinfection. Does not stain skin or clothing. Severe hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis and angioedema, have been reported during treatment with topical miconazole preparations. If a hypersensitivity or irritant reaction occurs, discontinue treatment. The preparation should not come into contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes. The cream contains benzoic acid, which may cause mild irritation of the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. The skin solution contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation. The solution also contains ethyl alcohol: avoid contact with open wounds and mucous membranes.
