Composition
The active substance is an ester of mucopolysaccharide and polysulfuric acid.
Other ingredients:
methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate 0.16 g, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate 0.04 g, glycerin, stearic acid, wool wax alcohol ointment, cetyl stearyl alcohol, myristyl alcohol, isopropanol, thymol, potassium hydroxide, purified water.
Scope
Prevents the formation and promotes the resorption of superficial blood clots, bruises and edema, and promotes the regeneration of connective tissue. Hirudoid ointment is used for the local treatment of blunt injuries with or without bruises, as well as inflammation of superficial veins if they cannot be cured with compression.

A 3-5 cm strip of ointment (and longer if necessary) is applied to the affected area one or more times a day.
Treatment usually lasts up to 10 days for blunt trauma and 1-2 weeks for superficial phlebitis.
Hirudoid ointment is also suitable for physiotherapy procedures such as phonophoresis.
Use in children and adolescents
Experience with use in children and adolescents is insufficient. Therefore, use in this age group is not recommended.
Contraindications
Hirudoid ointment should not be used if you have hypersensitivity to mucopolysaccharide and polysulfuric acid esters or to any other component of Hirudoid ointment. With open wounds, inflammation, purulent processes or skin infections, on the eyes and mucous membranes.
Side effects
Like all drugs, Hirudoid ointment can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
In rare cases, skin hypersensitivity reactions may occur, which usually resolve after discontinuation of the drug.
