Composition: the active substance of the drug is acyclovir (1 g contains 50 mg of acyclovir). Other Ingredients: Cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, poloxamer 407, white petroleum jelly and purified water.
Action: antiviral, showing a strong effect on the herpes simplex virus.
Dosage: apply to the affected areas of the skin 5 times a day with an interval of about four hours, with a night break. The drug works most effectively if treatment is started as soon as possible after the onset of the first symptoms of herpes, such as burning, itching or redness. Treatment can also be started at later stages of the disease when indurations or vesicles appear. Treatment should be continued for at least 4 days. If skin lesions have not healed, extend treatment up to 10 days.
Contraindications: if the patient is allergic to acyclovir, valaciclovir or any of the other ingredients of the drug. Do not use on mucous membranes such as the mouth, nose, or eyes, or when treating genital herpes.
